Making Your Resource Box Work for You

Do you write articles? Then you are familiar with the resource information box at the end of your article. You place it there hoping to get people who read your articles to click on the link provided and visit your site (whether it be a website of your own or an affiliate link).

If you are new to article writing – the resource box is an important part of your article. The resource box is usually placed at the end of your article. It contains important information you want to give to the reader like --- your name, a brief description of who you are, a brief description of the site you want to highlight and a link to the site. Why do this? It is in the hopes that the reader will like what they have read and would like to find out more about that topic (and they will click the link and visit the site that you are promoting).

Whether writing and publishing articles on the internet is new to you or old hat, keep in mind that the resource box should be set up to catch the interest of the reader and entice them to learn more about you and the site you are promoting. And you need to do this in the small space of a resource box. Keep your message clear and concise and use keywords and content that will encourage your readers to click the link and visit your site.

To put together an effective resource box you will want to research what keywords people are using to search when they are on the internet. There are several keyword tools that you can use to help you choose keywords that are relevant to your article and site.

Since you only get a limited space for your resource information your creativity can help you make the most of it. Remember you are working here to catch the eye of your reader and get them to take the next step and visit your site. Think about it as a 5 second ad spot in which you need to capture the reader’s attention and make them want to learn more. What can you add to your resource box to pull the reader in?

Important note: Only use keywords that are related to your site. Don’t use a keyword just because it is the most used. Your readers will click on the link to find out more information about the keywords you listed and will be disappointed if the information they think they will find is not available. You want to be seen as a credible and reliable source to people on the internet so that they will return to get more information (or buy more products and services) from you.

Do not take the resource box lightly. It may be small, but it can be mighty and bring additional traffic to your website. It is your business card to the world. If it is boring it will be overlooked so have fun with it, be creative while showing off what you have to offer. The most important thing is using this powerful tool (the little resource box) effectively to get people to your website.
